Program on Native American Artifacts
The chapter welcomed Tommy Goodman, a noted architect and artist from Carrollton, who presented an informative program on the history of Native Americans in Mississippi, with a special focus on arrowheads and stone tools.
Goodman shared pieces from his personal collection of arrowheads, bird points, and other artifacts that he has collected throughout Mississippi. His talk provided a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the region’s earliest inhabitants.
In appreciation of his program, Regent Melanie Bowman presented Mr. Goodman with a copy of The Revolution by Ken Burns.
Patriotic Painting Donation
At the meeting, the chapter also received a patriotic painting by Belinda Duke. The artwork was painted by Duke during the chapter’s America 250 Celebration at Cotesworth on April 25, 2026, where she performed her “Patriotic Painting in Song” segment. The painting will become part of the chapter’s permanent collection.

Upcoming Dates
The chapter reminded members of two important patriotic observances:
Flag Day – June 14
Independence Day – July 4
The Chakchiuma Chapter will resume regular meetings in the fall. New members are always welcome.
