Chakchiuma Chapter Kicks Off New Year with Luncheon, New Members, and Constitution Program
Members of the Chakchiuma Chapter NSDAR at the first meeting of the 2026–2027 year, held September 9 at the home of Romney Brock. The chapter welcomed new and returning members and honored DAR State Regent Amelia Langford.
The Chakchiuma Chapter NSDAR opened its 2026–2027 year with a luncheon and meeting on Wednesday, September 9, hosted in the home of Romney Brock. Members—new and returning—enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, welcome, and learning.

Distinguished Guests
We were honored to have Amelia Langford, DAR State Regent, join us as our special guest. Her presence made this first meeting of the year especially memorable.
Senator Lydia Chassaniol presented the program on the United States Constitution, offering an informative and timely reflection on the document that shapes our nation.

Looking Ahead: Constitution Week
Constitution Week is September 17–23, 2026.
The chapter will observe the week with several activities:
Bell Ringing – September 17 at 3:00 PM, marking the exact time the Constitution was signed in 1787
Poster Contests – encouraging students to reflect on our founding document
Library Events – programs and displays at the Greenwood-Leflore Public Library
Book Donation – the chapter will donate a book on the Constitution to the library
We invite the community to join us in recognizing this important observance.
