Young Patriots Ring the Bell for Independence Day

At 1:00 PM on the Fourth of July, three young Greenwood brothers stepped up to a bell rope at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity—and joined a chorus of bells ringing across the nation.

Isaac, Jesse, and Ezra Dallas took part in the national bell-ringing observance marking America's 250th year of independence, pulling the rope at the same hour bells sounded from coast to coast.

Why We Ring

The tradition of ringing bells on Independence Day hearkens back to July 8, 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud in Philadelphia and bells rang out to announce the news. Today, communities across the country continue that practice—an audible reminder of the freedom proclaimed that day.

For our chapter, it was especially meaningful to see young people take part. Isaac, Jesse, and Ezra have grown up alongside our America 250 efforts, and it's a joy to watch them carry the tradition forward.
